Immortality. Are you brave enough to become a god?

Since the beginning of humanity, people have dreamed at immortality. Realizing that their time on earth is limited and that everything has a beginning and an end, they tried to defy the laws of nature. Great civilizations invented religions that preach the immortality of the soul, many famous writers have discussed this topic, there were written many songs about immortality and is a favorite theme of the greatest philosophers of the world like Socrate,Platon,Aristotle,Descartes,Nietzsche,Schopenhauer,Hegel from antiquity until the present. The most important play of Goethe's work is Faust. Is a tragic play that has the subject of immortality and is considered by many to be one of the greatest works of German literature.Beliving in a ideea, fighting for it can make you immortal.

Goethe said:''a useful life is a delayed death a useless life is a premature death''.Also,Imanuel Kant in the Critique of Practical Reason besides topics like theology and atheism puts the question of imortality.Even the best romanian philosophers from the interwar period Constantin Noica,Emil Cioran,Petre Tutea have pondered this problem. If philosophy is only a listing of beautiful words, why then it has such a prestige? In conclusion the idea of immortality is consuming, fascinating and and gives metaphysical worries. What is immortality?Immortality is the concept of living a physical or spiritual form for and infinite or inconceivably vast lenght of time,a eternal life,a timeless existence.
Wittgenstein,in a notably non-theological interpretation of eternal life, writes that,''If we take eternity to mean not infinite temporal duration but timelessnessm, then eternal life belongs to those who live in the present.''Personally, I think this statement is completely wrong.Living in the present leads to the lose of your identity and its just a ilusion.A nation that loses its cult for heroes loses the moral right to exist. There are many interesting ways to obtain eternal life. The most popular is the religios afterlife way.
But why?People need hope and the majority founds it in the faith that death its only the beginning. The belief in an afterlife is a fundamental tenet of religions, including Hinduism,Christianity,Islam.Buddhism has a interesting theory:at birth the man is born crying and even in death he cries. We suffer because we are never satisfied,we want more.Things that make us suffer are those which we can not change. So we should not care about anything and we should reflect at nothing we should clear our mind to became one with the nature. They belive in reincarnation that is another form of immortality.I think that this theory has a large gap.If we forget everything,we reach a primitive state, the state of Adam and Eva.Then how Buddhist meditation can be the highest step of spiritualism?Tough we are mortals, fragile, weak we care about the others and that makes us divine.Vikings believed that if they die in a battle they go in Valhalla, and they will be entitled to sit next to Odin. Here is a viking prayer:'': Lo, there do I see my father.Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.Lo, there do I see the line of my people...Back to the begining.Lo they do call to me.They bid me take my place among them.In the halls of Valhalla.Where the brave may live forever''.
Bushido way of the samurai is an intriguing form of spirituality.Despite the great crimes of religion, spirituality its a good way to became eternal.True and sincere faith is superior to any dogma.Spirit will always conquer matter. You might think that selfish people do not want to die,the short life that they have is not enough to quench their curiosity and love for life. That is an important reason that we all so desperately seek eternity.Which is the real reason for dreaming of immortality?I think the biggest burden of man is to be alone. You can be alone in the sense of isolation or you can be alone while you're surrounded by one hundread people.Does not even matter.Trust me on that,I have experience in both.Total solitude can disarrange the minds of the most balanced people on earth. We want so fervently immortality not necessarily for us but for the people we love.Because it is so hard to lose someone...Since the last world war and so far science has progressed enormously and perhaps over who knows how many years we will become biologically immortal. What is biological immortality?Biological immortality is an absence of aging,a cell or organism that does not experience aging, or ceases to age at some point.Being immortal does not destroy the cycle of nature?Think about it.Biological immortality does not lead to overpopulation of the earth? Is a hilarious but realistic problem. How can you become immortal?A more romantic approach brought me to a fascinating conclusion. It is based more on speculation.I think that a hero or a genius can become immortal because of his exemplary life. The Glory in the memory of men it will always belong to the ones that follow their great visions.Immortality can be achieved through an aesthetic glory.Great kings, generals, legendary heroes of Homer's books as Pericle,Leonidas,Hannibal,Cezar,Napoleon,Heracles,Hector, live forever being included in history books but also in our minds and hearts.
Their outstanding qualities and decisions they have taken are a model for us all.The best writers Tolstoi,Dostoevsky,Shakespeare the greatest researchers, scientists Einstein,Newton are in the same category.I belive that any man should have the right to make his own fate.Fortune favours the brave.Alexander the Great said:''bury me with nothing because the only thing that I take with me is the perpetual glory''.He not only conquered the world but i dare to say that he even conquered death. As he said at the Battle of Gaugamela:conquer your fear and I promise you that you will conquer death.Felings like love and friendship can last forever.Everybody knows about Tristan and Isolde,Romeo and Juliet,Maytreyi and Alan. Not only that love is a road to eternity but also love saves us,it gives us a good reason to live, perhaps the most important one,in this absurdly world.
Having a friend is,sometimes, better than having a brother.Human history gives us enough evidence of true friendship from Achilles and Patroclus to Alexander and Hephaistion to Ion Creanga and Mihai Eminescu.Art can be imperishable. What is art?Art is a way of expressing aesthetic of beauty,is a explosion. To produce art, you need a lot of work and talent but one more ingredient that makes the difference between one useful object and a art object:suffering.Only by experiencing suffering we can look beyond deception, beyond preconceptions.Even if the bones of the artists will molder in the infinite passage of time their name will endure.Sistine Chapel, the Eiffel Tower,Monalisa picture, the Seven Wonders of the World are a testimony to the greatness of art.Poetry is a nice art.Imagination of writers has produced various fantastic creatures with the capacity to be immortal.Anne Rice is the best writer of this domein.

The vampire chronicles discuss the drama of an immortal. The world is changing you do not.You see people that you love aging and disappear. And you get bored...As in Queen's song I ask you now:Who wants to leave forever?Who dares to love forever? There are many tricks we can use to defeat death.Humor is one of them.Marcus Aurelius the roman emperor which withdraw the troops from Dacia said:''All that a simple mortal can do in the face of death who smiles to us all is to smile back''.Greeks nicknamed him king-philosopher.Would you dare try to resist the burden of eternity if it would be offered? What price are you willing to pay?Would you do anything to be forever yong?Oscar Wilde has this theme in The Picture of Dorian Gray.Only the brave, only the strongest can became imortal. You need a strong personality and a ''will of fire'' a absolute and even absurd will.A will of a god.You need to be smart and have many activities and a dream to keep you alive. You have to be brave. What is Courage?A brave man is not a one with no fears. That is a madman.A brave man is a human who has fears but, despite them, pushes forward to fulfill his destiny. The ones that let fear rule them shall survive but the brave will really live even for a moment. To transform ourselves from a normal human into a god we need to be absolute free.Mircea Eliade said about freedom:''To not be afraid of anything means to wear the shirt of death forever, you become free when you decided to overcome the biological economic, political barrier but also the most important spiritual barrier. To be fearless is the greatest freedom that a human can reach on earth.
To be free means to be primarily responsible for yourself. To not fear of anything means looking at what is happening in the world as a spectator. This means that we can intervene at any time, by imagination, and we can change the show how you like.''You must have a developed sense of justice. You have to go balanced. You have to walk on brinkmanship. My ideas and conclusions were dramatically lined. Also I have to say something funny. My name is Armand and in one of Anne Rice's stories the main character's name is Armand,a immortal vampire who lived five hundread years.Hope is the last thing that dies from a mortal.I hope that my essay is only the start of my trip to eternity.

Social Networking -The way the 21st century communicates now.

What is Social networking?Social networking is the grouping of individuals into specific groups, like small rural communities or a neighborhood subdivision, if you will. Although social networking is possible in person, especially in the workplace, universities, and high schools, it is most popular online. This is because unlike most high schools, colleges, or workplaces, the internet is filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other people, to gather and share first-hand information and experiences about golfing, gardening, aesthetics and cosmetic surgery, developing friendships or professional alliances, finding employment, business-to-business marketing and even groups sharing information about the end of the Mayan calendar and the Great Shift.

What is the limit of the Internet? There is no limit. The topics and interests are as varied and rich as our society and the history of the human being. The friends that you can make are just one of the many benefits to social networking online. Another one of those benefits includes diversity because the internet gives individuals from all around the world access to social networking sites. This means that although you are in the United States, you could develop an online friendship with someone in Denmark or India.

Not only will you make new friends, but you just might learn a thing or two about new cultures or new languages and learning is always a good thing.I have heard a very funny story about how you should not use Facebook.

A teenager-boy from U.S.A. ''fell in love'' with a girl from Romania. After several months they began to isolate themselves at home. The American boy stole money from his parents and came to Romania. But he discovered that ''Juliet'' was actually a boy.In 1998, Kraut showed a correlation between Internet use and declines in social relationships and isolation.Darkness...When everything that you know and love...Is taken from you so harshly...All you can think about...Is anger, hatred and even revenge...And no one can save you.Sometimes in wars...We fight to protect what's precious to us...Even...if we don't know the outcome.Because...It's so hard when you lose someone...Greater use of the Internet was also associated with small, but statistically significant declines in social involvement as measured by communication with the family and the size of people’s local social networks, and with increases in loneliness, a psychological state associated with social involvement.I will say an “Internet Paradox” because the Internet is heavily used for communication, yet it makes people lonelier.

Strong relationships developed online are rare; most people use the internet to keep up with offline relationships. The Daily Mail just ran a thought-provoking article about the effect that social websites have on childhood development. In short, eminent neuroscientist Susan Greenfield claims that social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter shorten attention spans and contribute to an instant gratification, self-centered mindset. We know how small babies need constant reassurance that they exist. My fear is that these technologies are infantilising the brain into the state of small children who are attracted by buzzing noises and bright lights, who have a small attention span and who live for the moment.
I often wonder whether real conversation in real time may eventually give way to these sanitised and easier screen dialogues, in much the same way as killing, skinning and butchering an animal to eat has been replaced by the convenience of packages of meat on the supermarket shelf. When the spirit stays fixed on a single idea, its intensity weakens.Simple and cheap Internet access has a negative consequence. No one can guarantee the correctness of users. There is already a wide range of malware, created by ill-willed that begin with spying (invisible) a user's activity and ends with theft of bank account of people who did know how to defend themselves.

But since then Internet has evolved, changed.Internet is like a sword. It depends on the hand that holds it.Where would I be without Internet? It's a good question that is hard to answer. One thing is certain.Without Internet I would be a weaker person.Yes internet is a fountain that can give unlimited power. Why would I want more power? It is true that with greater power comes greater responsibilities.Paraphrase of the Teutonic Knights code:''What's the point of a man who is not trying to make a better world?''.I want to make justice. But justice on earth is the privilege of power. What is power?True power lies not in physical strength or the place that you held in society. It lies in the quantity and quality of information held by a person, analytical skills and dissimulation.

But beware! The Dissimulation must be within the limits of morality.Socrates said:''Be master of your will and slave of your conscience''.I think that the worldwide discussions between teenagers are an important tool to gain more wisdom. As Descartes saying:''by thoughts we can find the light. Not humility but the flame of the mind can rise us.''Light does not come from light but from darkness.Prevalence of the Internet in the world is huge: in June 30, 2009 about 1.67 billion inhabitants of the Earth had acces to the Internet. An incredible number of people use social networking.

They can share various information, landscape pictures, traditional music, movies.I'm amazed that using a communication program like Skype,Yahoo Messenger,MSN Hotmail and a microphone I can hear the voice of a friend found in thousands of km away. You can even see the figure of a friend using Webcam from England to Brazil. You may admire the teenagers rooms from all over the world. You can realize the cultural differences that make the world more beautiful from the landscape of the room by the way objects are arranged and by their contents. In the last sentences I have used several times the word friend. But what is friendship?Friendship is an attempt by a man is measured,a soul in two bodies, being with friends when they are not right, but when they are wrong, friendship is the night shade which increases along with the sunset of the life. Many say that friendship does not exist.I think there is true frienship but it is very rare.Let's be honest with us.How many good people we encounter in life?Conspiracy-theory fans say that too much social networking is not only a danger for teenagers.Making us accounts on sites like facebook and publishing personal data on it or our pictures will lead to mass globalisation and and loss of privacy.Excessive globalisation means imposing same laws at different cultures. There are many fiction books about intelligence organizations which want to control the world as Bildemberg club,Skull and Bones,Round Tables,Council of Foreign Affairs,Trilateral Commission,Illuminati. In one word is it a masonic society,Grand Lodge.
The best authors in the field are the Spanish writer Cristina Martin and the German knight of the pen Jan van Helsing. How to escape from the obsessive slogan:''Work, eat, and subject yourself to the system, because there is no alternative to the wonderful world we built it for you?''You want to be slaves or would you prefer to be free? How far would you go to defend your country? How far would you go before your honor? How far would you go to fulfill your duty? And how far would you go to become a hero? Some countries prohibit or restrict the access of the population to Internet in various fields: politics, religion.

For example North Korea,China.I remember that I was interested in the socio-political situation of communist China. But my sources of information were not enough to feed my so natural curiosity. So I searched and found one of the most important site from China which is in hi5 style:''Xanga''.There I had the opportunity with just a few clicks to make friends from the Far East. The information presented in a friendly, fun conversation was far more interesting than if I had learned from books. From there I learned about the great general Sun Tzu who wrote the famous book Art of War.

I will give some examples of his quotes:''When the army will engage in long campaigns, state resources will not suffice.Attack where the adversary is not expecting. If you are able, simulate stupidity, if you actively simulate passivity.Trick the enemy to trap him, simulate disorder and strike!''.I was fascinated when I have learned about the two main religions in China:Confucianism and Daoism. The great difference between these religions and Christianity is that in the first case pragmatism is at a much lower level.God-man relationship is more neglected.Chinease religion is more an ethical and philosophical system,a complex system of moral, social, political and quasi-religious.Because of the totalitarian system there is much discipline, maybe too much. They learn between eight o'clock and twelve o'clock midday and then go home and resume at fourteen o'clock and complete the program at eighteen o'clock.Their culture is amazing and because the giant scale of China there are several dialects in different regions.India is much alike.I understand now that we should not look through prejudices. Many Chinese do not agree with what is happening in Tibet.

To better understand the psychological effects of social networking I will tell you how I overcome human limits, destroying my fear of death without being aware of it.I was talking to a friend from the east when an earthquake hit.I said to him:earthquake!I will be right back in two minutes if I am not be dead until then.I went to cover like we do in such situations and I had no patience to return to my conversation while mom and grandma prayed and said all sorts of nonsense.I loved to entertain at their expense. When it stopped I began to laugh and throw myself back into the armchair as if nothing abnormal happened,as if I went to the door and returned back while the people went out on the street.Life is a game and those who are willing to die will win.To really see how valuable is your life ask yourself how many things you have that you can not buy with money. The wonder called Internet allowed me to move more East to Japan.

I met a different person who is passionate about skiing and wants to come in Romania. They have an impressive dynasty of monarchs. But to understand the long life of the dynasty from Japan we must look to the Samurai. My friend said that Japan was made by a sword. He said that the gods stuck a sword in the cold ocean and when they pull it out, four perfect drops fall back into the sea and those drops became the islands of Japan.I say Japan was made by a handful of brave men.Warriors willing to give their lives for what it seems to become a forgotten word:honor. What does it means to be samurai? To devote yourself utterly to a set of moral principles. To seek stillness of your mind and to master the way of the sword.
I had the opportunity to learn a little Japanese and it's really not that hard. There is so much in Japan that I will never understand.I have never been a church going man and what I have seen on the field of battle is let me to question god purpose. But there is indeed something spiritual in that place. And though it will may be forever obscure to me I can not be aware of its power. In this place you can truely find peace of your soul.Everyone is polite, everyone smiles and bows but beneath that courtesy I detect a deep reservoir of feelings. They are intrigant people. From the moment they wake, they devote themselves to the perfection of whatever they persue.I have never seen such discipline.I am surprised to learn that the word ''samurai'' means to serve.Serve the king and if he is dead serve the people. In November 2007, Internet penetration rate in Romania reached 31.4% of the total population estimated at 22.27 million inhabitants, the number of broadband connections was 1,769,300.It is not too much nor too little.A positive effect that internet had is that the Romanians could communicate with those left for work.Due to very poor situation of Romania almost 4 million romanians emigrated. But using Internet they could communicate with the loved ones.On the other hand a negative effect of the spread of internet in Romania was that the children and teenagers have become more isolated.Maybe some video games are too violent for a child. With the spread of social networking streets have become more desolate and childhood games were abandoned. It is remarkable that using social networking we can can live history. In April last year it was that riot from Basarbia.
Television news were not sufficient for me so I got in touch using Internet with the Romanians from there and they have provided me incredibly detailed information.I did not sleep 3 days and 3 nights but the unique experience was worth it.In 1918,Basarbia was the first who united with the mother country,Romania. Then was the first step to great connection from 1 December.History has not been with us.We come now to wonder whether our destiny lies not in the hands of other people? Is it so?What unites us?What separates us?The History? The language? The culture? The river Prut?Maybe the people...I recently communicated with people from Poland and I was impressed by their tragic story. What role I think online social networking will have in the future?Inevitably the world is changing. Now it is not enough to take good decisions but to take good decisions quickly. We live in a world of speed.Time is a sweet ilusion.Older generations say that we move too fast and we do not fully enjoy life.To sum up,I think they are wrong and they are jealous because they can not keep up wih us.Or maybe they can not understand.Life is more beautiful when you appreciate every moment, when you live with intensity.Quality will always beat quantity. It is obvious that technology will evolve:PC storage capacity, speed, image quality, complexity of the operating system, the number of people that ''live connected'' will increase and maybe scientists will find ways to remove the negative effects that computer has on our body.Or perhaps contrary continuous improvement of the system will increase the danger rate which we expose our bodies.Despite the greatness of science the human mind remains a mystery.I do not dare try to guess and even to speculate what psychological effect will have social networking in the future. For the mystery beauty's sake I will do not.
